JANUARY MEMORIAL DAYS

Welcome to MM

MEMORIAL DAY

....by Christine Ross in memory of Lucas Christopher Ross 1979 - 2001

Your child left this earth not long ago
On a day that's difficult to recall.
That day that ripped your heart out.
A pain not understood at all.

I know the deep wound it has left you.
You see, I have that open wound too.
Because....my child was taken from me
Just as your child was taken from you.

It doesn't matter how long it's been,
A year, a few years, or many more.
I share how it seems only yesterday
Your child was with you and safe as before.

The days gone by are lonely echoes
Of a much happier life and time.
I wish for you the comfort of memories
Held forever in your heart and mind.

Just know your child is reaching out
To announce that life is not through.
To tell you that the spirit never leaves
And is always watching over you.

So on this special memorial day
Let there be honor and memories and pride.
May you feel the spirit of everlasting love
On this day that your sweet child died.

TODAY I CRIED

~ by Christine Ross in memory of Lucas Christopher Ross 1979 - 2001

Today, I cried
Because you died.

Today, I smiled
For just awhile.

Today, I laughed
And then I gasped.

Today, I cried
Because I laughed.

ONE LAST KISS

~ by Christine Ross in memory of Lucas Christopher Ross 1979 - 2001

Oh, there you are,
So still, so cold.
No more breathing,
No growing old.

As I touch you,
Nothing is real.
Your skin is cold,
Your body still.

My eyes see you.
My heart wonders,
Beneath this shell,
Do you slumber?

I listen close,
No sound from you.
I whisper soft,
My voice eludes.

Air engulfs you,
Frigid and stale.
I breathe in deep,
Capture your smell.

Upon your lips,
I press my own.
The taste of death,
It lingers strong.

Lips cold and sealed.
Your life dismissed.
Tears warm your face,
With ONE LAST KISS.

THE PLACE YOU WENT

~ by Christine Ross in memory of Lucas Christopher Ross 1979 - 2001

When the morning sun gets in my eyes
I can almost see your hidden face.
When the evening winds blow fiercely
I feel the strength of your embrace.

When an autumn breeze becomes a whisper
I can almost hear you quietly speak.
When the snow falls from a winter sky
I feel your touch upon my cheek.

When the starlight casts a shadow
I can almost see your spirit drift.
When the rain in summer trickles down
I taste your kiss upon my lips.

When the flowers in the springtime bloom
I can almost smell your faded scent.
But... where the mountains touch the sky
My heart knows the place you went.

EARLY SPRING

~ by Christine Ross in memory of Lucas Christopher Ross 1979 - 2001

I feel you in the morning breeze
As it skims across my face.
I see you in the sunrise
As it brightens up this place.

I hear you in the thunder
Before the sky begins to drip.
I taste you in the raindrops
That trickle down across my lips.

I smell you in the fragrance
Of every flower that's in bloom.
But these things I just imagine
From the corners of my room.

It's winter here in my room.
There's a chill down to my bones.
It's dark, and cold, and dreary
And I feel so all alone.

The cold is a reminder
Of this frigid, frozen fear
That casts those icy shadows
Of death, and grief, and tears.

I'm hoping for the sunshine,
Fragrant breezes, thunder, rain.
But most of all I'm hoping for...
a very early spring.

When snow falls, nature listens.

~Antoinette van Kleeff

A small triangle floats from the sky.
It settles on the ground among thousands of others.
There isn't a replica of it anywhere.
Once it's gone...it's gone forever.

~ M. Kuhn

With every falling flake,
a unique spark of interest falls from heaven.

~ P. Miller

But where are the snows of yester year?

~ Francois Villon

Out of the bosom of the Air,
Out of the cloud-folds of her garments shaken,
Over the woodlands brown and bare,
Over the harvest-fields forsaken,
Silent, and soft, and slow Descends the snow.

Author: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Snowmen fall from heaven... unassembled.

~ Author Unknown

No snowflake ever falls in the wrong place

~ Zen

Somewhere in the heavens
an angel made this delicate, flawless masterpiece.
Then the angel sent this work of art down to Earth
as a gift of beauty. ~ C. Preston

Of all sound of all bells...
most solemn and touching
is the peal which rings out the Old Year.

~ Charles Lamb

PICTURES IN THE SNOW

~ in memory of Lucas Christopher Ross 1979 - 2001

I stare out through the window
With my baby in my arms,
Singing "rock-a-bye to sleep",
Dreaming of the things to come

Street lights are shining dimly,
Halfway veiled by falling snow.
The lamps in neighbors windows
Give a soft and shadowed glow.

Cars move slowly, almost silent;
On their homeward way they go.
Sitting here in early twilight,
I see pictures in the snow.

The years move on so swiftly
Things change with passing time
These arms that held that baby
No longer hold what's mine.

More souls have journeyed onward
Casting shadows on my face.
Somewhere beyond the twilight
In that quiet and peaceful place.

Some say the hour is darkest
Just before the dawn appears.
I'm still waiting in the twilight
But my eyes are full of tears.

This loneliness surrounds me
And things sometimes look so grim.
And the hope for life that's better
Often looks so very dim.

Footprints out on the walkway.
Snow will fill them very soon.
Far away in time and distance
I hear that old familiar tune.

Spring birds will soon be singing
And flowers blooming all around.
But as I stand here in shadows
Snow still covers all the ground.

Waiting in the twilight dreaming
Of the ones I used to know.
I can almost see their faces
Among those pictures in the snow.
