A DREAM OF ANGELS

I had a dream of angels,
Of feathers and clouds on high.
I traveled up to heaven
Through the clear blue crystal sky.

I saw him standing at the gate
With white feathery angel wings.
He smiled at me and nodded.
Then the clouds began to sing.

The light that glowed behind him
Came from a sacred special place.
His halo gathered in the light
And it glowed upon his face.

My heart was filled with so much joy
That can never be described.
As he reached out and took my hand
I said..."I guess I must have died?"

He smiled but then he shook his head
"No, it's just a glimpse of where I live.
It's not your time, you must go back
Please accept this gift I give."

He held me closely in his arms
And we flew off through the air.
He lay my head upon a pillow
And he gently stroked my hair.

He placed a kiss upon my forehead
And told me always to believe.
Then tears began to fill my eyes
Because I had to watch him leave.

Then I awoke and realized
I wasn't dreaming like before,
And right there on my pillow
Was the proof that it was more.

I reached out to touch the proof,
Knowing we had been together.
For there upon my pillow was.....
A lone white angel feather.

Angels around us, angels beside us, angels within us. Angels are watching over you when times are good or stressed. Their wings wrap gently around you, whispering you are loved and blessed.
~ Angel Blessing

AN ANGEL IS SLEEPING

Sometimes in my mind
I go back to that place
Where death came to visit
And life was erased.

It's late afternoon
And the sun's going down.
I open the door
And I know what I've found.

An angel is sleeping,
There's an absence of breath.
No need to tip toe,
Sound won't waken death.

I look at that face
And I kiss that sweet cheek.
Nothing is normal.....
There's a reason to weep.

But sometimes in my mind
I go back to that place
Where death came to visit
And life was erased.

It's early morning,
The sun's coming up soon.
I open the door
And go into the room.

An angel is sleeping,
There's no need for breath
In that place of forever
Where there's no more death.

I look at that face
And I kiss that sweet cheek
Everything's normal.....
No reason to weep.

REMEMBER

I don't remember that it rained
On the day his body died
But I'm told the heavens opened up
When the angels began to cry.

I don't remember sleeping
On the eve I heard the news
But I must have somehow closed my eyes
When a dream of him came through.

I don't remember breathing
On the night I found him gone
But I know I felt a gasp of air
When I stood there all alone.

I don't remember crying
On the way to his goodbye
But I touched my face and it was wet
When I reached to wipe my eye.

I don't remember flowers
On the chapel walls that day
But their fragrance lingered in my mind
When I began to walk away.

I don't remember music
On the silence of that place
But I heard the whisper of his soul
When it left this time and space.

I won't remember flying
On beyond to where he roams
But then I'll know we'll never part
When I remember ..... I'm back home.

SILENT SYMPHONY

The silence leaves me empty
Like a note without a chord.
No more harmony or rhythm.
No more beating of his heart.

He found the melody of earth
But was born for better things.
The music deep within his soul
Came to rest on angel wings.

To see an angel, you must see another's soul.
To feel an angel, you must touch another's heart.
To hear an angel you must listen to both.

THE PILLOW

The pillow where he laid his head
Is now where I lay mine.
You'd think that after all these years
It would flatten out with time.

It used to be so pure and white
As it curled around his head.
But now it's stained with teardrops
From so much crying in my bed.

I wonder as he slept at night
Was he dreaming like I do
Of heaven and of angels
In the place he was going to.

I guess some day it will wear out
And it's comfort will be gone.
I think that it will be the day
When I finally travel home.

It's just an old worn pillow
That is aging just like me.
But it's where he laid his head
And it's where I want to be.

We've never had to look far to find our angels. Angels have never really been out of reach. We can always discover angels from the inside-out, because it is the angel inside us who can point the way to all our other angels.

DID YOU?

Did you hear me praying On the day the angels came?
Did you know I asked you
To spare me from this pain?

Did you see me begging
Not to take my child away?
Did you touch me when I screamed
On that awful dreadful day?

Did you understand my cry
In that lonesome funeral home?
Did you answer my request
Not to leave me all alone?

Did you think about my bargain
To please take me instead?
Did you give me any warning
That my child would soon be dead?

Did you accept my thankfulness
For all those wonderful years?
Did you heed my pleading
To dry up all these tears?

Did you walk along beside me
When I needed you the most?
Did you introduce my child
To yourself... the Holy Ghost?

Did you think I'd be forgiving
And understand your way?
Did you know... I finally did
Even though it's not okay?

Did you say you never left me
And you heard my every plea?
Did you wonder where I was
While you waited patiently?

Will you hear me praying
On the day the angels come?
Will you carry me across
And bring my soul back home?

A CANDLE FLICKERS

A candle flickers through the night
With a gentle peaceful glow,
As shadows dance upon the wall
And memories begin to flow.

Yesterday was full of sunshine
That somehow slipped away.
And all of the tomorrows
Illuminate another day.

But today there is a candle
That will flicker through the night
And shine upon a broken heart
With a peaceful angel light.

Silently, one by one, in the infinite meadows of heaven, Blossomed the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the angels.

THE CHOSEN

I guess we should be thankful.
We were chosen for this chore...
The task of being parents
To an angel forevermore.

I guess we all did something right.
We received this great award...
The honor of being parents
To an angel of the Lord.

I guess we must be special
We obtained this heavenly worth...
But we'd rather be the parents
To an angel here on earth.

Children often have imaginary playmates. I suspect that half of them are really their guardian angels.

BABY BOY

Baby boy come to me,
Come to me upon the wind.
Baby boy touch my heart,
Touch my heart and soul again.

Fly from where the angels dwell
And fly into my dreams.
Take me back to yesterday
Before the morning gleams.

Let me rock you in my arms
And sing to you a lullaby.
Let me hold you baby boy
Before you say goodbye.

Baby boy come to me,
Come to me upon the wind.
Baby boy touch my heart,
Touch my heart and soul again.

THE ANGEL CRIED

I gazed up at the statue
As I stood there at her feet.
The Angel of Hope was saddened.
Then she began to weep.

I watched her as a teardrop
Streaked slowly down her face.
I looked around at all the names
Surrounding her in this place.

I thought how weary she must be
From carrying every child
Across the sky to heaven,
Away from us, ...for awhile.

I wondered why she was so sad.
She knew the children had a home.
It was then I realized that her tears
Were for us, ...here all alone.

I felt it was a miracle
That a statue really cried.
Then teardrops fell upon the plaques
Of all the children that had died.

I turned my eyes to heaven.
The whole sky was shedding tears.
I had thought that these were raindrops
For so very many years.

The angel cried with me today
So did the children's names in stone.
Their teardrops fell upon my skin
And I no longer was alone.
